New electric crossover VW disguised as Opel
Very soon, already in February 2020, they should reveal the secret of the appearance of the new electric crossover VW ID.4, but at the same time we still very vaguely understand what they will show us
so, we count on to see the VW id4, however, we see.. a model that strongly resembles some new Opel crossover. But experienced photo spies can not be fooled. Due to the similarity of forms with the previously recorded test VW ID.4 , as well as the similarity to its prototype presented in China (ID Next concept, pictured at the bottom), the same VW electric car was recognized in the photographed car.
Despite the fact that the platform of the new ID4 will be identical to the younger ID.3 (the so-called MEB), the crossover should be slightly longer than the hatchback with a length of 4600 mm. And this indicator is very interesting in positioning a novelty in the VW lineup because in terms of length the machine will just stand between the ordinary Tiguan and the long-base Tiguan Allspace. In this case, the wheelbase of the electric crossover will be greater than that of the ICE counterparts.
In power plants, VW ID.4 will also differ from ID.3, namely, the crossover will have an additional engine. This will achieve a total power of 302 hp units. In particular, a 109-horsepower electric motor will be installed in front, and a 201-strong top-end for the ID3 line with 310 Nm of torque will be installed at the rear. ID3 will share a set of battery options with his older brother – these are the same blocks of 45 kW * h, 58 kW * h, and 77 kW * h, which provide a range of 330, 420 and 550 km. respectively.
They plan to put the car on the assembly line in Europe next year, but from 2022 they want to start producing ID4 at the VW plant in Tennessee, USA.
